在風景的彼岸 許銘仁
「在風景的彼岸」, 是藝術家許銘仁近年來在台灣的首場素描創作個展。許銘仁近年來主要的展演活動在美國紐約一帶,創作主軸方向是以當代素描的探索為主。在這個展覽裡,藝術家主要以草山的景致作為他記憶的舞台,藉由時而模糊時而清楚的長短線條,勾勒出介於時間以及所視景物間的真實紀錄。在這裡,在藝術家的筆觸下,所有的景象皆變成近乎抽象的圖像書寫,而風景的意義再也不若當初所被定義的一般。
一般而言,用文字來描寫一處自然景緻,我們多用形容的字與詞去包裹著所想要描寫的對象,甚或者某種抽象的感受。包裹的每一字每一語,或許樸實拙稚也或許是光彩華麗,但都在在的顯示著作者想要傳達其所視所思的感受。
繪畫的媒材以及表現方式有很多種;然而因為素描的直接以及單純,讓我鍾情於以素描來描繪我的所思、所視。在這一系列的作品裏,我用素描這一繪畫形式來描寫我眼中的自然以及景緻。我包裹對象的方式是用一條條反覆添加以及增減的線條;一種時而清楚、時而模糊的長短線條來傳達出我對於山林的感受以及認識。在一張張漫長素描的過程裏,在自己的工作室中,不斷的將自己沉浸在對山、對景的記憶裏;然後藉由每一條敘亂、模糊的線條,在手中,不斷的抽、掏出我對於曾經所眷戀的景色的真實感受以及理解。這一過程正是自己對於’’可視的與不可視’’之間的真實的追逐。也是我處在風景的彼岸來描述經由反覆觀照所得下的見證。
On the Other Side of the Landscape
Generally speaking when we try to depict natural scenery by language, we often use illustrative words and phrases to embellish the object or even the abstractive feeling. The words and phrases may be plain or elegant but it truthfully reflects the feeling of the author’s seeing and thinking.
There are many types of media and technique to express art and I have chosen drawing to illustrate my thoughts and observation for its direct and basic quality. In this series of work, I use drawing to depict the natural scenery that mirrored in my eyes. I repeatedly add and erase lines that are sometimes clear and sometimes blurred to express my feeling and perception of the mountain. In my studio, the drawing process is intensive and I immerse myself in the memory of the mountain and scenery. With my hands and through every blurred and disordered line, my true feeling of the landscape is discovered and portrayed. To me, this process is to pursuit between the visible and the invisible; it is also the witness of the repeated observation viewed on the other side of the landscape.
